Chicago Pneumatic has
introduced the SX Sander line of palm-type pneumatic
random orbital sanders for general sanding and
finish sanding operations. The range has a choice
of two orbit diameters; 3/32 in. (2.4 mm) for
fine finishes and 3/16 in. (5 mm) for general
finishing. The SX Sander is designed for highly
productive final prep and finish sanding in woodworking,
boatbuilding, metalworking, aerospace and similar
manufacturing.
The unit is only
1.7 lb (760 g) and 3.26 in. (83 mm) high to reduce
wrist fatigue and provide exceptional fingertip
control. There are two interchangeable grips provided
to suit operator hand size. A lock-off lever prevents
accidental starts. Noise level through the rotatable
silencer is only 76 dB(A) for non-vacuum sanders.
The vibration levels are lower than 2.5 m/s².
The lubrication-free
pneumatic motor generates 0.3 hp with a variable
speed range from 0 to 12,000 rpm for highly productive
finish sanding. Oversized, dual ball bearing sets
are double-sealed for long life.
Available pad
diameters include 3.5 in. (89 mm), 5 in. (127 mm)
and 6 in. (150 mm). Each size is available in three
dust extraction versions: non-vacuum, self-generated
venturi vacuurn and external vacuum system. All
models share common parts and components for reduced
spares inventory.
